Is silicone safe for babies?

Food-grade platinum silicone is a soft, flexible material used for baby feeding items because it is gentle on gums, does not shatter and tolerates heat and cold — it can go in the dishwasher, the microwave and the freezer. SofiAl uses 100% food-grade platinum silicone with no fillers.

Our sets are free from BPA, PVC, phthalates and lead. The spoon and fork handles are natural beech wood with soft silicone tips.

The standards we test to

An independent laboratory tests SofiAl feeding sets to these requirements:

CPSIA — the United States children's product safety rules
Canada: SOR/2018-83 (lead) and SOR/2016-188 (phthalates)
EN 14350 — the European standard for children's drinking equipment
EN 14372 — the European standard for children's cutlery and feeding utensils

We name the standards, not the laboratory, and we never say “approved” — a standard is something you are tested against, not a badge.

Tried by our own kids first

SofiAl was created by parents for their children, Sofiia and Aleksandr. Every piece was used at our own table before it was offered to anyone else — and the kids still use these sets today.
